How to warm up your email templates in lemwarm

Why this matters
If your emails contain sales-oriented language or certain content patterns, spam filters may flag them before they ever reach your audience. Warming up your actual templates — not just your sender domain — signals to email providers like Gmail that your messages are legitimate. This helps them land in the Primary inbox instead of spam, improving reply rates and protecting your sender reputation.

Who this is for
Anyone on the Smart Plan who wants to warm up specific email campaigns before sending. This feature is not available on the Essential Plan.

Prerequisites
  • You are on the lemwarm Smart Plan
  • Your email address is connected and the warmup process is active
  • You have fewer than 5 templates already saved (the limit is 5 active templates)

Steps
1. Go to My templates
In the left navigation menu, click My templates.
2. Create a new template
Click + Add a template in the top-right corner. The button shows your current usage (e.g. "3/5" means 3 of your 5 template slots are used).
3. Write your subject line and email content
Compose the email you plan to send to your real audience. Use the actual subject line and body copy from your campaign — the closer this is to what you'll send, the more useful the warm-up data will be.

Do not include sensitive or confidential information. Other users in your lemwarm Smart Cluster may see your template content during the warm-up process.
4. Save and enable the template
Save the template, then toggle it on in the Spam R... column to activate warm-up for that template.
  • Toggle on (orange) → lemwarm starts warming up this template
  • Toggle off (grey) → template is saved but not being warmed up
5. Let the warm-up run for 3–7 days
For best results, leave the template active for at least 3 to 7 days before sending it to your real audience. lemwarm needs this time to build a reliable signal with email providers.
6. Monitor your spam rate
lemwarm tracks the spam rate for each template in the My templates list view. If a template's spam rate gets too high, lemwarm will automatically disable it to protect your sender reputation. Review this regularly before launching your campaign.

How you'll know it worked
  • The template toggle is orange and the template appears active in the list
  • The spam rate column starts populating after a few days
  • After 3–7 days, the spam rate is low enough to send confidently to your real audience
  • If lemwarm disables a template automatically, you'll see the toggle turn off — this is a signal to revise the content before re-enabling

Troubleshooting
"+ Add a template" button is greyed out or shows 5/5
  • Cause: You've reached the 5-template limit.
  • Fix: Disable or delete an existing template before adding a new one.
Template was automatically disabled
  • Cause: lemwarm detected a spam rate that was too high and disabled the template to protect your sender reputation.
  • Fix: Review your email content for spam-triggering elements (excessive links, all-caps, overly promotional language), revise the template, and re-enable it.
Spam rate shows N/A
  • Cause: The template was just added and hasn't been through enough warm-up cycles yet.
  • Fix: Wait 24–48 hours for data to start populating. Make sure the template is toggled on.
Template is enabled but spam rate isn't improving after 7+ days
  • Cause: The email content may be consistently triggering filters.
  • Fix: Revise subject line and body copy to reduce promotional language. Re-enable and allow another 3–7 days.
